Description

The RTS BP-240 is the official rechargeable lithium-ion battery pack for RTS ROAMEO and TR-240 wireless intercom beltpacks. RTS lists it as the spare battery for the ROAMEO TR-1800 and TR-1800 EU DECT beltpacks, and it is also used by the TR-240 2.4 GHz beltpack. The removable 7.5 V Li-Ion pack is rated at 2400 mAh in the TR-1800 data sheet, giving a typical 17 hours of TR-1800 operation per charge (up to 8 hours on the TR-240). It can be charged in the beltpack itself or removed for bulk charging: a depleted pack recharges in under 2.5 hours in the CHG-1800 LI4 four-bay charger. An essential spare for studios, OB vans, theatres and live productions running RTS ROAMEO wireless intercom, allowing crews to hot-swap packs and keep beltpacks on air through long working days.

FAQ

What is the BP240 and what equipment does it power?+

The BP240 is a battery pack designed specifically for the RTS TR1800 wireless intercom beltpack. It supplies DC power to maintain TR1800 operation during portable/mobile deployments. A complete working chain requires: TR1800 beltpack, BP240 battery, headset with suitable connector, and compatible base station or wireless receiver. Verify battery charge state before field deployment and confirm connector compatibility with your TR1800 production batch, as connector standards may vary across manufacturing runs.

How many BP240 batteries should we stock for continuous TR1800 operations?+

The product notes specify a quantity of 8 BP240 units per package. Battery runtime depends on TR1800 transmission duty cycle and environmental conditions—typically 4–8 hours under normal studio/field use. For continuous operations, implement a rotation schedule: deploy four packs while four charge. Verify actual runtime in your specific RF environment and duty cycle before committing to shift-length deployments without mid-shift swaps.

What charging infrastructure do we need for BP240 batteries?+

RTS supplies dedicated charging solutions for BP240 packs (verify current-generation charger model with your supplier). Fast chargers typically require 2–3 hours for full charge from depleted state. In an OB van or studio, allocate dedicated 120V/230V AC power and temperature-controlled storage (15–25°C) to maximize battery lifespan. Establish a documented charging log and retire packs showing >20% capacity loss to prevent field failures during critical broadcasts.

Are BP240 batteries compatible with other RTS beltpack models?+

The BP240 is specified for TR1800 units. Do not assume compatibility with other RTS beltpack generations (e.g., TR800, TR2000 series) without explicit verification from RTS—connector pinouts and voltage rails may differ. Cross-compatibility errors can damage equipment or create safety hazards. Maintain separate battery inventories by beltpack model and label storage clearly to prevent field mix-ups during high-pressure productions.

What environmental limits should we observe when deploying BP240 batteries?+

Lithium-ion battery packs (standard in modern RTS systems) operate safely within 0–40°C; performance degrades below 10°C and above 35°C. Avoid direct sunlight, high humidity, and thermal shock during outdoor live events. Do not leave charged packs in hot vehicles or unattended in damp environments. Store unused packs at 50% charge state in a cool, dry cabinet. Confirm actual temperature specs with your BP240 documentation—chemistry and thermal protection vary by production revision.

How do we integrate BP240 batteries into a multi-TR1800 commentary setup?+

Each TR1800 beltpack requires one BP240. In a 12-person commentary chain (12 TR1800s), provision 12 active BP240s plus 12 spares—24 total. Synchronize charging cycles so rotating batteries are always available during show blocks. Label each TR1800–BP240 pair to track duty cycles and battery age. Confirm the TR1800 base station/receiver power architecture separately; it uses mains AC or a different DC supply and is not powered by BP240 units.

What maintenance and lifespan should we budget for BP240 packs?+

Lithium-ion cells degrade with cycle count and calendar age. Expect 2–4 years of reliable field service (200–500 charge cycles) before capacity falls below 80%. Monthly inspection: check connector corrosion, housing cracks, and battery swelling (stop use immediately if swollen). Keep contact surfaces clean with a dry cloth. Retire packs failing to hold >80% rated capacity. Establish a replacement budget cycle aligned with production schedules, not reactive emergency procurement.

How do we diagnose a TR1800 that fails to power on with a BP240 attached?+

Check in sequence: (1) confirm battery has a full charge cycle (test with a known-good TR1800); (2) inspect connector pins for corrosion or bent contacts on both BP240 and TR1800; (3) verify the BP240 isn't mechanically stuck or seated misaligned; (4) swap the BP240 with a spare from your inventory. If a known-good BP240 fails on the TR1800, the TR1800 likely requires service. Document failures and test patterns to identify whether battery age, environmental exposure, or equipment design issues are contributing. Escalate to RTS technical support with model/serial data.

Are your used / ex-demo units tested and warranted?+

Yes. Our used and ex-demo units undergo a full functional inspection — sensors, video outputs, control signals, optics and mechanics — including a colorimetry and sensitivity test. Each product is tested by our technicians and comes with a 90-day warranty. Contact us for the specific warranty terms of the unit you are interested in.
